This restaurant was suggested to us in the binder provided by the hosts of our cottage so we booked it on a whim. It was helpful that it was a short drive away as well. I was able to book it very quickly on their website. I’d also requested a high chair on the online booking. They have a sister restaurant/hotel called Lewinnick Lodge.
The restaurant is attached to a B&B in Mitchell. Upon entry you’re greeted by a friendly, smiling face. We were shown to our table promptly where they’d set up the high chair and even thoughtfully provided some crayons and colouring paper although Baby H was too young for that. They were quite happy to provide some hot water for us to warm up some puree as well.
Our drinks orders were taken after a short time and our food orders shortly after the drinks arrived. It was quite quiet so was quite happy that service was very prompt. We were given a Dinner Special (DS) menu and the normal menu.
For starters we had the Baked King Scallops in Shell (DS) and Tempura Battered King Prawns (DS). Both were tender and absolutely delicious. I particularly enjoyed the pastry that was baked around the shell.
For mains we had the Chorizo, Spinach and Cod Linguine (DS) and the Plate of Cornish Lamb. The linguine was fabulous and the garlic bread tasted fresh and crispy. The lamb was tender and mash was smooth.
For desserts we had the Banoffee Sundae (DS) and Blackforest. Both were very delicious.
3 courses, a pint of Pepsi and a pint of bitter shandy came to about £90 which was quite acceptable considering the quality of the food. I can highly recommend this restaurant for a meal out!
1. High chair – happily provided upon request at booking.
2. Changing – unsure as we did not require it.
