Trerice, Cornwall (National Trust)

We recently went to Cornwall for a family holiday and stayed in a cottage near Newquay. On the Sunday we wanted a fairly low key day so we went to Trerice which is near the cottage.

Trerice is an Elizabethan manor with a garden. Parking is free in a rather large car park. Upon entry to the grounds you come across the ticket office. Admission includes entry to the house and the gardens.

We took the pushchair with us but were informed that we wouldn’t be able to take it into the house. Fair enough. We were directed to the barn restaurant where we could leave the pushchair. There’s a space down some steps to the side of the main restaurant where it looks to be some sort of cloak room but its open so I wouldn’t personally leave anything valuable there. We took advantage of having a quick bite to eat at the restaurant before leaving our things to look through the house. We used our baby carrier to carry Baby H around.

The house was like any typical National Trust property where the rooms and furnishings were original to the house with the history of it and the family interspersed. It was nicely kept and the guides/volunteers were quite knowledgeable.

We then had a quick walk through the grounds which were well kept.

All in all its quite a decent way to spend about 1-1.5 hours.

Baby facilities:
1. Changing – there is a baby change with the toilets by the barn restaurant. Decent condition.
2. Accessibility – as previously mentioned, you are best not to bring your pushchair as you won’t be able to use it in the house and there are also some steps in the grounds so a baby carrier might be more helpful.
