The Marina Cafe by Mason and Mason, Long Eaton

As we’d only moved to Long Eaton in September we’re still struggling to wean ourselves off dining in the Nottingham city centre. However, as my husband knows quite a few people in Long Eaton we’re not short of recommendations! The Marina Cafe was recommended to us by my husband’s boss. Its situated at the Sawley Marina in Long Eaton.

They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Sunday Lunch. In this instance on Sunday the 20th of November 2016 we’d visited to try their breakfasts offerings.

Its definitely a popular place as there were several tables reserved! Friendly and helpful staff quickly remedied the lack of tables by creating a table for 2 just from a table that was underutilised. After leaving us to peruse the menu for a short time they came back to take our order of 2 Full English Breakfasts at £8.95 each and a latte and hot chocolate.

The breakfasts consisted of 2 slices of thick-cut Danish bacon, 2 breakfast sausages, 2 hash browns, traditional black pudding, fried mushrooms, grilled tomato, 2 free-range eggs, baked beans and a slice of white/wholemeal toast. Its also served with a complimentary small coffee or tea which you can upgrade to a medium (35p) or large (70p).

We both requested that they leave off the black pudding while I requested they also leave off the baked beans and the tomato.

The food was amazing! It’s been a while since I’d had breakfast of such decent quality. It was also served piping hot!

Staff were friendly and efficient, food and drink was good and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We’ll definitely be coming back to either have breakfast again or to try their other offerings (Sunday lunch or Fish Friday!).
