The Black Boy is a gastropub located in Headington, Oxford. From the outside it looks like a mere pub but upon entry you’re greeted with a rather modern looking interior. There is also a garden out back but we didn’t get the chance to have a look round. My brother-in-law suggested it as some of us wanted a Sunday roast.
We were seated quite promptly as it was rather quiet. The staff were polite and quite helpful. Our orders were taken and didn’t take very long at all to arrive.
I had The Black Boy sausage with garlic & thyme mash & beer onion jus while the other 5 had the beef Sunday lunch.
The sausages were tender but weren’t the best sausages I’ve ever had. I’d say it was a decent meal. In my husband’s words, 2/3s of the roast were decent. Our party weren’t very impressed by the roast potatoes in particular.
It was an OK meal but we wouldn’t necessarily rush back for their food. As previously mentioned service was friendly and prompt.
