Gwesty Carreg Bran Hotel, Wales

We stayed at this hotel in October 2015 as we were attending our god daughter’s christening at St Mary’s church which is down the road. The hotel is located at Church Lane, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll LL61 5YH, Wales.

The rooms could have done with a complete refurbishment and soundproofing. I could hear every word our neighbours were saying quite clearly. There was peeling wallpaper all around the room, flickering bathroom light, and heating that was on a timer which didn’t help when it was quite cold in our room. It served it’s purpose but there’s so much potential for a place like this. I understand that refurbishment was meant to be happening this winter just gone but I hope soundproofing will be improved as well.

Service at the front desk was brilliant. We were quite late checking in (11pm) but the lovely lady on duty stayed late to ensure we could check in. We were also allowed to have a late check out as our god daughter’s christening was 2 hours after check out.

Breakfast was lovely the first morning but unfortunately it was quite poor by comparison the following day. There were only 3-4 other tables the first morning whereas the restaurant was quite full the 2nd morning and quality control clearly slipped due to the large number it had to cater for.

Therefore while the hotel served its purpose we don’t think we’re likely to book to stay again unless quality improves. Service from the front of house staff was brilliant but I found everything else merely adequate.
